Magical Celebrity Earring Style – Why We Heart Emma Watson

You may know her as Hermione Granger from the epic series of Harry Potter films, which is currently set to come to a close with the release of this Summer’s eighth and final feature Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2. But these days, the now grown up British actress is less a child star, and more a thriving adult fashionista.
After trading out her cascade of tousled waves for a prim, yet edgy pixie in 2010, the jewelry animal inside came out with a vengeance, and amongst other countless brooches and baubles, her wardrobe of earrings did as well. Just check out these adorable danglies she wore to the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1 last November:
Dangling pieces that feature a Hollywood sophistication intermingled with a youthful sweetness seem to be a favorite, as Emma has recently been spotted in them again…
…and again! If you’re as envious of her polished, yet carefree earring style as I am, listen up, because here are some hints on how to copycat:
Go for simple dangles that show off just one prominent gem or bead in a fun and youthful shape, like hearts, stars, or flowers.
Pull out the gem encrusted detailing, but keep the shapes simple, and be sure the dangle itself isn’t too long.
Or grab the cheapie version and do a direct doppelganger.

Body Mod Wow! – Most Pierced, Tattooed, and Modified People in the World
Posted by: | CommentsAs body modifications continue to rise and the amount of tattoos and piercings on a single person continues to grow, I had to ask, “who’s got the most?” And here are the answers!
Most Pierced Person in the World
The world’s most pierced person is Brazilian born former nurse and current citizen of the UK, Elaine Davidson. Elaine began in the mid nineties with a modest collection of 250 piercings. By 2000 she had won her first world record with 462, reaching the 1000 mark in 2003, and continuing on at an amazing pace. Her last reported numbers from Summer of last year were absolutely staggering: over 6,700! You go, girl!
Most Pierced Man in the World
The world’s most pierced man as of the Guinness Book of World Records 2010 Release is John Lynch. John’s 241 piercings as of March 2010 stole the title from former most pierced man in the world Luis Antonio Aguero, who boasted 230.
Most Piercings in a Single Sitting
This record goes to brit Kam Ma, for his amazing 7 hour and 55 minute piercing session in which he was pierced an unbelievable 1,015 times. He’s also been given the honorary title of Man With the World’s Strongest Pain Threshold, as during his nearly 8 hour record breaking session no anesthetic of any kind was used.
Most Tattooed Woman
The most tattooed woman in the world is Julia Gnuse, with a whopping ninety five percent of her body covered in brilliant tattoo art. The inclusion of such bright coloring, cartoons, and many celebrity caricatures in her tattoos has earned Julia the nickname “The Illustrated Lady.”
Most Tattooed Man
The current Guinness record holder for most tattooed man had so much competition that he needed to do something amazing: cover literally one hundred percent of his body in tattoos. New Zealand native Lucky Diamond Rich did just that, tattooing his entire body head to toe including his eyelids, lips, inner ears, and some other places that are extremely sensitive.
Lucky’s close runners up, some of them former title holders themselves, included Kentucky born Eric Sprague (a.k.a. the Lizard Man), Canadian model (and “Zombie Boy”) Rick “Rico” Genest who recently became the most tattooed man ever to grace the catwalk, Paul Lawrence (also called “The Enigma”) for his interesting full body jigsaw puzzle, and former record holder Tom Leppard or “the Leopard Man.”
Person With the Most Stretched Ear Lobes
This one goes to a man who calls himself Bear, and his lobes are stretched to an outstanding size: over five an a half inches.
Most Modified Person
Although there is no official decision on this one, the honorary title has been given to American Pauly Unstoppable, who has modified himself with traditional tattoos, ocular (eye) tattoos, brandings, piercings, stretched piercings, scarification, a split tongue, and several different sizes and types of dermal implants.
Plug In and Stretch Out – Wild Gauged Piercings

Plenty of prominent celebs have stretched their ear piercings (the most commonly stretched piercing worldwide), especially those in the music biz. Just look at your favorite alternative, pop, and hardcore singers and bandmates like Brandon Boyd from Incubus, Adam Lambert, and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park.
But hold the phone if you think that stretching of the ears is just a boys club extra-curricular, because in today’s day and age, flocks of beautiful women are right there in the mix.
Though fun and interesting things are constantly coming about in the wonderful world of stretching or gauging piercings, the idea of stretched modifications is actually nothing new. Tribes from all over the world have been engaging in this practice for hundreds, and some even thousands of years. Just check out the examples here: Apatani tribal nose stretching from India (a practice which is now becoming extinct), Mursi lip plating from Ethiopia, South American tribal septum stretching, and a tribeswoman sporting traditional Thai ear modification.
In fact, if you look closely, you’ll notice several highly recognizable deities from many different world cultures are depicted with stretched ear lobes. Amazing, huh?!
While in the modern era the stretching of ear lobes, noses, labret piercings, and tongues has been taken to new heights and extremes…
…ask some of the surviving nomadic tribes thriving around the globe and you may just find that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.
Chain Gang: New Piercing Jewelry Trend – Chains

The nose chain is one of the hottest new celebrity trends, with the flashy and famous stepping out in this traditional Indian wedding adornment at every turn. Some celebs who have rocked this style: model Nyne, singer Katy Perry, and Hip Hop star Kelis.
For a less dramatic turn at the traditional Indian nose jewelry trend, it’s also in fashion to wear the Hindu style large diameter nose hoop with or without embellishments.
Another unbelievable piercing chain trend? Nipple chains. For those (like Janet Jackson, now known for her Super Bowl slip) who have nipple piercings, owning at least one nipple chain is becoming a must. Check out this cute one with little sets of dangling cherries. This fruit is definitely NOT for eating.
Next we have the old classic: the belly chain. For those of you who thought that the belly chain went out with the nineties, I’ve got some exciting news: it’s on the way back with a vengeance. They even come in unpierced, for those who want a flirty beach accessory without going under the needle.
And last on the top chains list, the threader earring. Threaders are for pierced ears only and basically look like a long chain with a solid piece in the middle and a decoration on one or both ends. These little beauties are a friend of the A-listers, appearing on Beyonce, Rebecca Romijn, and countless others.

Some of the biggest celebrities who’ve had a nose piercing? Alyssa Milano, Lenny Kravitz, Miley Cyrus, Pink, Christina Aguilera, and Kelly Clarkson.
Starlets who have worn some gorgeous belly rings? Keira Knightley, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Jessica Alba, Koena Mitra, and Lindsay Lohan. Also said to have belly piercings that seldom show: Gwen Stefani and Avril Lavigne.
Who says lip hoops and monroe rings are just for girls? Two of our favorite male musicians have amazing looking lip rings that really set a mood: Davey Havok of AFI and Travis McCoy of the Gym Class Heroes.
Some celebrities have even gone through the swelling and healing process of getting a tongue piercing. Among them are Drew Barrymore, Mel B (formerly of the Spice Girls), and rockstar import Bill Kaulitz, frontman of the popular band Tokyo Hotel.
And Finally, sporting the coolest labret rings in the business, Seth Binzer (member of the hit-making 90′s band Crazy Town) and David Draiman (lead singer of Disturbed) who pioneered the double labret worn with curved spikes. He made this look so popular that the style of labret spikes David wears are now sometimes referred to as “Disturbed Labret.”

So it only seems natural with the constancy of media exposure that celebrities who get pierced would set their own trends in the world of piercing and body modification. Here we take a look back at some of the cutest, oddest, and most interesting trends perpetrated by those celebrities who have gone under the needle.
Remember when….
Christina Aguilera made labret piercings hot for girls? From its inception, the labret piercing was seen mostly on men, partially because it’s placement (especially when worn as a traditional spike) seems to vaguely reference the image of a goatee or trimmed beard. So when young and trendy blond pop star Christina showed up with a very visible labret stud, a lot of us found ourselves a little confused. But after seeing it paired with the ultra feminine pink lip and flowery nose studs the star rocked at the time, suddenly the labret became not just unisex, but even girly, and the trend of female labret piercings exploded.
Later seen wearing an even bigger, more sparkly gem stud below the lip: Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif.
Remember when…
The eyebrow piercing went trans-genre? Thanks to curvy vocalists Fergie (Black Eyed Peas) and Amy Lee (Evanescence), the eyebrow ring brought edge AND delicate appeal to the disparate styles of both Hip Hop and Hardcore. This genre defying piercing is still prevalent amongst Hard Rockers and Emo fans, as well as Rappers and R&B aficionados. Strange but true.
And recently…
The newest female celebrity body piercing trend has blown up! That’s right, I’m talking about the septum piercing. This piercing is everywhere, and the numbers are only going to grow, as the cutest, most surprisingly feminine piercing gains new followings world wide. Amongst the pierced and proud in the celebrity septum family: actress Scarlett Johansson, front woman Hayley Williams of Paramore, songbird Kelis, and icon Janet Jackson. (Janet has actually had her septum done for years, along with several other piercings that she has accumulated over time.)
